Picking Up Hitchhikers ~ Perspective is Everything

The other weekend I was helping my mom move. As I was on my way home it was getting dark and I was tired, driving on autopilot as we all tend to do. As I pulled onto a country road that I always go down I noticed a man at the side of the road hitchhiking. I drove by him. That was my automated response. Something from my early years-'Don't pick up hitch hikers' From social programming, from watching scary movies(where it always goes bad for the person picking the hitchhiker up), from my good mother who taught me to keep myself safe and that picking up a hitch hiker is dangerous. And it probably is.
But for whatever reason my intuition overode my 'thinking' brain and social programming and before I knew it I had pulled a U-turn and I picked him up.
It was getting late and dark and I thought he would never get a ride at this hour. It 'felt' like the right thing to do. I was giving my brain counter arguments as it spat out things like 'female alone in car, dark country road, no one around strange man, danger' I thought of the 60's and 70's people hitching rides across the country...when we were less afraid of each other. When people used to have conversations at the bus stop. I may have been logically challenged to justify my actions but I was not afraid. I helped him put his bags in the car and took him to his destination -about 20 min outside of my way.
We had a great, enlightening conversation. He was on his way home from church and underestimated the fee for a taxi and the taxi had left him right where I had picked him up.
I felt happy to help someone in need. He was happy and grateful to have a ride and this story fortunately has a happy ending.
What is interesting to me is when I tell people I picked up a hitch hiker are the varied responses I get. From total surprise, or fear and anger as to 'how could I do something so stupid', to 'I pick up hitch hikers all the time, no big deal' response.
It is funny and interesting to me how fear is on a sliding scale..individual with each person. And how much our fears prevent us from doing something outside our comfort zone. And how many of our fears are not even our own. We adopted most of them from our parents, families, cultures, environment, and society. Scientists have even discovered that we are biologically wired for fear. It exists in part of the brain and we are born with our capacity for fear in our wiring (our 'computer system' ) Some people are born with more fear than others. What is interesting is that the more you work to overcome your fears, that 'fearful' part of the brain actually shrinks in size.
Now I am not advocating that everyone should start picking up hitch hikers. But I would like everyone to try to step outside of their box of 'comfortability' and endeavour to do something different this week, something that challenges one of your fears. Because once you overcome a fear, no matter how small or large, you have conquered it, and it is a truly liberating experience.

Miracles, Synchronicities, Confirmation

In my life, and in this line of work, I have been witness to many extraordinary things and miracles. Over time it has become commonplace to have one or more of these synchronicities occur throughout my day.

Last summer I met a native elder who expressed " I don't believe in miracles..I expect them." And I feel the same way.

He was endeavouring to explain that the more we listen to our intuition, and the more we are present with our life and present within ourselves, the more we become witness to the wonderful miracle that life is. We expect the miraculous, because it becomes our 'norm'.

Now just because I 'expect' miracles does not mean that they are ever boring, or that I no longer have extreme gratitude for them. In fact quite the opposite is true. They never cease to amaze me. I am humbled by them.

Just the other day I was tidying up after a weekend of beautiful Reiki classes with extraordinary healers and was in a state of extreme gratitude. During this time, my Mom happenned to call me.

During the distance healing part of our Level 2 Reiki class I had been sending some healing energy her way. I thought she may have been calling about that as she sometimes 'feels' distance Reiki. She did say her headache went away at that time, but the reason she was calling was to tell me about a 'strange and wonderful' thing that had happenned around that same time.

My Mom is a very wonderfully creative lady and years ago she was taking a watercolour class during the summer. It was during a time I was facing a very serious illness and she had been worried about me. Her teacher had asked them all to talk about their paintings that day once they had finished. She had described the different elements in her painting and explained that a large yellow light part of her painting represented a circle of light and all of the people that were helping me become well again. she had named the painting Circle of Light. As she told me this story I was overcome...I burst into tears.

She had never told me this story before, and she had since forgotten about the name of the painting. It wasn't until the day she found it again that she realized the significance. My business is named Circle of Light. I received that name very clearly one day while meditating and it has always been with me. Even when moving to the Waterdown location I contemplated changing or even modifying the name and could not do it..I kept getting the strong message that the name was Circle of Light. So here she was cleaning out her basement in preparation to move and pulling out an old painting that she had named the exact name I had receive for my business.

Was it an accident or co-incidence? I know it was not. Circle of Light is a representation of the circle of light we all have individually..our own personal light as well as the collective healing light we expand into when our energies merge together, when we work together and help one another. This name has had many meanings for me over the years, and it touches my heart and soul that we both received this same message albeit in different ways. It is confirmation to me that in spite of the many challenges I have faced over the years that I am on the right path. The Circle of Light is my thankfullness for the healing I have received coupled with my hope to share this same gift with all who require healing in their life right now.

We all have moments when we question our life path no matter how wonderful it is. Self contemplation is part of our humanity..it is how we change, grow and evolve. This 'miracle' was a sign to me that no matter what may happen in the future, to hold steady to the dream. I need to do this work..it is who I am...Being of service to others, in whatever capacity they may need me, is my joy and I cannot imagine living any other way.

My wish for everyone reading this is to have your own miracle in the coming days, weeks or months to give you the confirmation you need to make your dreams a reality. Anything IS possible.....We just need to BELIEVE!

Angel At The Drive Thru

I had a wonderful unexpected surprise this afternoon.
To put this story in perspective I have to confess that I have had probably one of the most hectic weeks I have had in a long time. As a practitioner who counsels others on how to 'keep it all together' in times of chaos..I have found this week I have had to a lot of my own advice.
Great and wonderful things are happenning..it is just at such a fast pace I feel like I have been going nonstop for 3 days and am craving down time.
I was going through a Tim Hortons drive thru, not being present, my mind going over the massive 'To do' list for today.
I was on complete autopilot. My kids were with me and I mindlessly ordered them a treat along with my treat.
Then I rolled on up to the cash and was told the person in front paid for my order.
What?!!
Everything stopped.
I was snapped right out of my autopilot(busy mind-self centred-managing my life) state into on of Surprise, Joy and Extreme Gratitude. It was not until I was snapped out of the mind program I had been running that I realized that I was even stuck in a mind program. It was the sheer unexpectedness of it all. This gift was under $5 and yet it was as though the lady who had been in front of me gave me the gift of a lifetime.
Never Ever underestimate the power of a kind word, an unexpected gift or the simple act of being present with someone brings.
I KNOW there are angels among us. And truly believe many of those angels are us, that we often adopt the role of 'Angel' to help those in need, or just by being in the right place at the right time.
I would like to thank this mystery angel, who in a single act of unexpected kindness, reminded me of how something seemingly small means absolutely Everything.
Thank you!
Have a beautiful 'unexpected' day!
Kerri

Just Hold Steady

Hi everyone!
We have been having back to back energy shifts this past year and for some this break neck speed has been taking it's toll.
In light of how it has been affecting everyone (even those of us unaware) I would like to share some tips that have helped me stay sane in spite of(my busy schedule, family life and business, as well as being super sensitive to energy fluctuations).

1. Revisit your PASSION ~ why is it you are in your life, why is it you are in your career, relationship, house etc. Take a good look at it, revisit the initial passion that led you there. Then change what needs to be changed, heal what needs to be healed and re-commit to the things you are passionate about with a new freshness.
Once you re-commit, the universe will begin to support you energetically. Joy and excitement attract more positive experiences than grief and apathy and frustration.
If you are unhappy, look at why that is, and change your mind.
2. HOLD STEADY ~ Do not make major decisions based on a whim or an emotion. Intuition has a softer steadier tone. Hasty decisions made on the wave of emotion will always come back and bite you in the (you know where). If things are chaotic, hold steady. Wait for the storm to pass, then act. While in the midst of chaos, it is never the best time for action.
3. HONOUR YOURSELF ~ Take a day off. If you are overwhelmed, cranky, tired, and have 'had it' call in sick and have a pajama day. The world will not end. You can drag out your low energy or bad mood for days or even weeks but if you take one day off and really set the day aside to recover or sleep or eat cornchips(whatever works for you)you will be more prepared to move beyond whatever is bothering you.
4. LIGHTEN UP ~ Have a Laugh. Honestly. We are all maybe not in the same boat, but we are all on the same ocean. We all have ups and downs. We all want the same thing-to be happy. Now what makes us happy changes from person to person, but we are all on this journey called life doing the best we can, with the tools we have. So never pass up the opportunity to laugh at yourself or to have compassion for what someone else may be experiencing.

I hope this helps!

Axiatonal Class Saturday the 6th

Just a reminder that the Axiatonal Class is this coming Saturday. There are 2 spots left. I have extended the cutoff for the early registration price to end of day tomorrow. You can register here: http://tinyurl.com/rab2s2
More infomation is here: http://circleoflightwellness.com/Events.html

Personally I have found this to be a wonderful therapy to give and to receive. It is relaxing, grounding and stabilizing. It has been especially beneficial in helping people integrate the intense energy shifts we have been experiencing this past year. As an energy practitioner and teacher it is a necessary and often used tool in my toolbox. As an energy worker, the more grounded you are the more energy you can channel, thereby raising your frequency and helping to shorten healing time in yourself and others.

More about Axiatonal Re-Alignment:

This therapy helps regenerate and reharmonize our mental, emotional and spiritual energy bodies allowing them to work in harmony with one another. Axiatonal lines are along acupuncture meridians and feed into spin points that lie near the surface of the skin. Spin points are small vortices of energy that regulate the molecules and cells of the body. When they are spinning in an appropriate manner they create a grid for cellular regeneration. When this happens the axiatonal energy is able to recharge the bodies, and clear negative emotional and mental patterns.
This process results in reduced stress, internal calmness, and emotional balance. This is a very relaxing and grounding therapy. It is especially useful for those who feel off balanced or confused about their lives and the direction they are headed. Axiatonal Re-Alignment provides a deeper conection to the authenitc self and all of life.

Stay tuned for exciting NEW updates. Lots going on as usual. Exciting times. : )
Enjoy your weekend!

Newsletter Coming Soon I Promise

I know..I know...the newsletter is very very late. I taught Level 1 & 2 Reiki this weekend. Fabulous classes, really enjoyed them and thank you to the students who attended. I hope you are practicing!!
So next week my focus is to finish the newsletter in my 'spare' time. (spare is in quotations because I never have spare time-I have to make time) If anyone figures out how to stop time and freeze it like in a Heros episode, please share with me how. : )
Of course it never helps to get sucked into another social app. I have a profile on Linked In but & find it boring as all get out. My facebook profile is dusty from months of neglect..and my friends think I have fallen off the planet. Right now my new favorite place to hang out is Twitter. 40 characters or less...it is the most fun a busy person can have. If you end up on there let me know so I can 'follow' you. It was created just to let people know what you are doing. I know..who really cares what people are doing? Well the sheer speed information is shared via Twitter is astounding. You can get information and updates from all of your favorite authors, teachers, celebrities, comedians, and colleagues. Even president Obama is on there for goodness sake. I'm personally following Lance Armstrong to keep my cyclist husband up to speed on the training for the tour. So check it out. It is fun, and educational, with a little bit of nonsense for good measure.
And we all know laughter is good for the soul. 'Too serious' types end up pickled in their own juices. So have some fun this coming week and find something to make you laugh a big belly laugh every day.
